On 24 May 2024, the renovated JET storage facility of MOL in Kecskemét was inaugurated with the contribution of OLAJTERV
2024. June 20.
Based on the Parliament's decision, aviation kerosene (JET) stockpiling, was introduced into the Hungarian legislation. The Hungarian Hydrocarbon Stockpiling Association (MSZKSZ) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MOL to comply with this.
The necessary permits were obtained on the basis of OLAJTERV's detailed designs and construction started in 2023. At the Kecskemét site, the tanks previously used for storing gas oil have been renovated to allow for kerosene storage. Thanks to the HUF 1.2 billion upgrade, the depot can now store around 12 000 tonnes of JET. In addition, the facility has been extended with a new state-of-the-art truck loading unit, laboratory and sample storage space, and the pumps and service system piping have been upgraded. The completed investment will enable MOL to provide a total kerosene capacity of about 14 000 tonnes to the MSZKSZ, of which 2 000 tonnes are stored in existing kerosene tanks in Százhalombatta. With this development, the country's strategic kerosene supply has been increased sevenfold, which will significantly contribute to increasing domestic supply security.
